After heroic emailing over a three week period and one mishap due to limited wifi Ale persevered in getting us out for a beautiful afternoon in Umbria. She was so wonderful about figuring out what we would like to do.
We ended up going to
Bevagna, a wine tasting and Montefalco all which made for a perfect afternoon. Our guide was Michele who provided us lots of history, visits to churches and a perfect winery .
We could not have asked for a more perfect day. My only regret was not having another day to spend driving through this beautiful area. I highly recommend Ale and Michelehttps://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r330038845-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
Ale has a great way about her that transcends language. You can tell that others who are Italian speakers around us are even happy to help do her a favor. She’s able to tailor tours to the needs of her audience. She instinctively knew that with my parents who were freezing on an unexpectedly windy day in Assisi to find flat roads that were blocked from the wind whereas with us, she took more stairs and led us to more picturesque higher grounds with viewpoints.
My learning from these tours with Ale is that Umbria is the less commercialized, less well marketed reflection of Tuscany. With the exception of Florence in Tuscany which is certainly unique and amazing, other cities in Umbria like Assisi or Perugia have just as much to offer as Siena or San Gimignano. All of them adorable and unique places to visit but Umbria no less so than Tuscany. What a great find for next time! I’m so glad we were able to explore Umbria on our Italian countryside vacation.https://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r329586343-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
We selected Alessandra (“Ale”) as our private tour guide for a full day (6 hours) in Assisi after “interviewing” two others via email. A severe thunderstorm hit the Assisi area the morning of our scheduled tour. Ale suggested that rather than get drenched walking around Assisi we should visit Maria di Angeles and two other St Francis sites outside of town that we could drive together to. We agreed and by the time the lunch break arrived the rain had stopped and we visited both the St Francis and St Clair basilicas.
‘Ale” was very knowledgeable regarding the art and history in all of the venues we visited and was able to answer all of our questions. We never felt rushed throughout the tour even stopping at a few gift shops along the way.https://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r318827167-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#

Thank you to both Alessandra and Marco for making our day tour of both spello and Assisi the best day. Alessandra was so helpful in planning our day to get the most out of our time and Marco was so knowledgable about both spello and Assisi. He was so very kind and considerate about all the walking involved during the day, never rushing us. He is a wealth of information and his English is great. All of us agree …four girlfriends traveling together …that we would highly recommend Umbria Con me day tours. Thank you..thank you…thank youhttp://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r279214515-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
Had a hot but fascinating tour with Marco who was very well informed and totally pleasant. Recommended to learn about the history- especially religious- of this beautiful city
As a family of 5 spending a week in Umbria we wanted to strike the balance between pool time and getting a chance to see something of Umbria and to experience its culture, history, and countryside. Before we left Ale spent a lot of time helping us decide on an itinerary that fitted our needs. We settled on trips to Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi and a day of truffle hunting. Once we had decided booking was easy and everything went smoothly and easily.
We loved the truffle hunting – we weren’t sure what to expect but it completely exceeded our expectations. It was a very special experience, really giving us a sense of life in rural Umbria but at the same time with a genuine hospitality and delicious food to boot. Fabulous.
We were also thrilled with our trips around Orvieto, Assisi and Perugia. Catia (our guide) and Maurizio (our driver) couldn’t have been friendlier or more accommodating. We had two wonderful and memorable days. We were really able to get the very best out of each of the cities in the time that we had but yet we were tantalised enough to want to visit each again with more time. Catia’s level of knowledge and English were really excellent and she was able to answer all of our questions. Our teenage boys came away fizzing with the stories about the region and the buildings. There is so much we would never have seen without her to guide us. Particular favourites were the fountain and Etruscan Arch in Perugia and the Cathedral in Orvieto. Assisi is enchanting. We would definitely use Umbria Con Me again.http://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r297904172-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
We engaged Umbria Con Me four times while staying in Assisi; a “Picnic lunch in a winery”, an evening cooking class in an Agriturismo (including a delicious multi-course meal), a tour of three wineries and of Bevagno and Montefalco towns and an afternoon tour of Spoleto.
Our experiences were excellent. Allesandra was extremely helpful in organising the trips for us and the guides and drivers were exceptional. In particular Werner was our guide/driver for two of the trips. We believe his expertise and deep knowledge of the history of Umbria in particular are second to none.
All the representatives of the company were very patient with us in respect of our our very poor understanding of the Italian language.http://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r302051938-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
We contacted Alexandro via email and arranged the tour. Our meeting point was prearranged where we met our guide, Elisabetta who has Phd in Art.The tour was for just under 3 hours .
Elisabetta really made the tour for us , her knowledge was incredible , down to such things as where to stand in the Basilicca to get the perspective of the hands of God.
We saw numerous tourists wandering around like lost sheep who really had little idea of what they were looking at or where to look . This why we used a guide. The cost for 4 of us was Eur146 , which was really good value.
Highly recommended – Umbria Con Me were very professionalhttp://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r310855525-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
Alessandra met me at my hotel and provided an excellent and detailed tour of Assisi. In the Basilica of Saint Francis, in particular, she pointed out the differences in the styles of painting and drew my attention to some details of the iconography that I’m sure would have escaped my attention otherwise. She brings a deep knowledge and great love of Assisi to her tour and gave me plenty of tips for things to see and do in and around Assisi.http://www.tripadvisor.it/ShowUserReviews-g187905-d3249721-r313299592-Umbria_Con_Me_Day_Tours-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html#
