Civita di Bagnoregio half-day tour

If you are in Orvieto and would like to visit a magical place, you should take the half-day tour to Civita di Bagnoregio.

The small village is also called the dying city because it is said to be disappearing. Built on tufa rock it is one of the most visited places for those who come on holiday to Orvieto. Just think that only 11 people live here permanently! It has been the set of numerous films, precisely because of the very special landscape that surrounds it.

It was founded more than 2500 years ago by the Etruscans and there are still numerous testimonies of this.

Inside the village there are several medieval houses, the church of San Donato, which overlooks the main square and inside which is kept the Holy wooden crucifix, Palazzo Alemanni, which houses the Geological and Landslide Museum, the Bishop’s Palace, a 16th century mill, the remains of the house where St Bonaventure was born and the gate of Santa Maria, with two lions holding a human head between their paws.

Your driver will take you from Orvieto on a beautiful scenic drive of about 30 minutes. After 2 hours of free time in the small village we return to Orvieto.
