Spoleto is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Umbria, a place where history, art, and culture blend together in a unique atmosphere. A city with a noble soul, rich in fascinating architecture, ancient traditions, and masterpieces waiting to be discovered.
During your guided tour of Spoleto, you will explore a city with more than two thousand years of history. Among the Roman remains, you will admire a remarkable section of ancient pre-Roman stone fortifications, still visible as part of the original city walls. The Romans later transformed Spoleto into an important center, building temples, forums, arches, and monuments that can still be seen throughout the historic center.
The highlight of the tour will be the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, where Filippo Lippi, one of the greatest painters of the Italian Renaissance, created his famous frescoes in the 15th century. Inside the cathedral, you will admire the beautiful fresco cycle depicting the Life of the Virgin Mary, a splendid 12th–13th century mosaic floor, and a chapel decorated by Pinturicchio, another important Renaissance artist.
Walking through the historic center with your guide, you will discover the stories, traditions, and hidden treasures that make Spoleto one of Umbria’s most fascinating destinations.
The Cathedral Square also becomes one of the main settings for the Festival dei Due Mondi, held every year between late June and the first half of July. During this period, Spoleto transforms into a vibrant stage for international artists, hosting exhibitions, theatre performances, concerts, ballet, and poetry events throughout the city.
