Built with the characteristic pink stone quarried from Mount Subasio, the Basilica of St. Clare houses precious frescoes dating back to the 12th to the 14th centuries. Inside the single nave, which leads to the transept and polygonal apse, you will discover the chapel on the right side where, according to tradition, the famous Crucifix spoke to St. Francis and invited him to rebuild the Church at the small church of San Damiano.

After the visit, you will take a taxi (included) to reach the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, located in the valley below Assisi.

Built on a monumental scale, the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli is one of the largest Christian churches in the world. Its grandeur may seem far from the simplicity embraced by St. Francis, but the growing number of pilgrims coming to Assisi to visit the small Porziuncola Chapel and the Chapel of the Transit, where St. Francis spent his final moments, required a larger sanctuary capable of welcoming the faithful.

After this visit, you will return to the historic center of Assisi to discover the magnificent Basilica of St. Francis, the spiritual symbol of the city and one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world.

The Basilica, home of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor Conventual, preserves an extraordinary collection of 13th- and 14th-century frescoes created by some of the greatest Italian artists of the time. Among them, the most famous is Giotto, whose masterpieces revolutionized medieval painting and continue to attract visitors from around the globe.
